The Sixteenth to Eighteenth Centuries

In Europe, earrings virtually disappeared between the eleventh and sixteenth centuries, as hairstyles and headdresses that completely covered the ears, and later high ruff collars, made them impractical. Large Earrings finally began to revive in the late sixteenth century, as ruffs gave way to standing collars. At first, complex enameled designs were popular, but improved techniques of gem cutting soon shifted the emphasis to faceted diamonds. In the seventeenth century, large, pear-shaped pearl pendants were a favorite earring style, and those who could afford to do so wore two in each ear. It was also fashionable to wear pendant earrings on strings or ribbons threaded through the earlobes and tied in bows, and to tie ribbon bows at the tops of earrings to achieve the same effect. Similar earring styles were also worn by fashionable gentlemen, but usually in one ear only.
By the late seventeenth century, earrings had become an essential element of dress, and larger and more elaborate forms began to develop. Two of these became the dominant styles of the eighteenth century: the girandole, in which a single top cluster branches out like a chandelier to support three pear-shaped drops, and the pendeloque, a top cluster with a long single pendant. New sources of diamonds, along with new methods of cutting them, developed early in the eighteenth century, made them the material of choice for jewelry, and high-quality paste imitations were also available. Glittering girandoles and pendeloques, visually tied to the ears by stylized ribbon bows of diamonds set in silver, effectively balanced the high, powdered hairstyles of the period. Despite their refined and delicate appearance, such large earrings were quite heavy; some had additional rings soldered to the tops, permitting the wearer to take some of the weight off of her ears by tying the earrings to her hair.
In the late 1840s and through the 1850s, a new hair-style, with hair parted in the middle and gathered to the back of the head in loops that covered the ears, caused a virtual disappearance of earrings. Around 1860, once again owing to a return to upswept hairstyles, long pendant earrings made a comeback, and through the 1860s and 1870s they were produced in an astonishing variety of styles. One major theme was historical revival, with Egyptian and Classical styles particularly popular. Some revival earrings, such as those produced by the Castellani family in Rome, were fairly faithful reproductions of recent archaeological discoveries; others were fanciful pastiches of classical earring forms, architectural elements, and other motifs such as amphorae. Earrings with carved classical reliefs of coral or lava, or Roman glass micro-mosaics, were very fashionable, and were often brought back as souvenirs by travelers to Italy. Other popular styles were naturalistic renditions of leaves, flowers, insects, and birds' nests in gold, enamel, and semiprecious stones; enameled renaissance-revival styles; and, for more precious gems, floral sprays and cascades. A new style in the 1870s was the fringe or tassel earring, with a graduated fringe of pointed drops suspended from a large oval pendant.
In the last two decades of the nineteenth century, large pendant earrings went out of fashion, in part because they were incompatible with the newly fashionable high dress and blouse collars, and with the elaborate "dog collar" necklaces worn for evening, which almost completely covered the neck. Small single-stone and cluster earrings, either firmly mounted to the ear wire or mounted as pendants to move and catch the light, were the most commonly worn style through the early twentieth century. The most fashionable earrings of all were diamond solitaires, which became more available after the opening of the South African diamond fields in the late 1860s. New cutting machines and open-claw settings, both of which increased the amount of light reflected by diamonds and made solitaire earrings more appealing, were developed in the 1870s. To prevent valuable diamond earrings from being lost, catches were added to secure the bottoms of the ear wires. Another innovation, first patented in 1878, was the earring cover, a small hinged sphere of gold, sometimes finished in black enamel, which could be snapped over a diamond earring to protect it from loss or theft. By the end of the century diamond ear studs (also called screws), with a threaded post passing through the ear, and held securely in back by a nut screwed onto the post, were also popular.

Felicity Huffman's Youngest Daughter Reveals Her College Plans After Varsity Blues Scandal Landed Her Mom In Prison

Less than two months after Desperate Housewives star Felicity Huffman served 11 days in prison for her role in the Operation Varsity Blues College Admission Scandal, her youngest daughter Georgia Macy has revealed her college plans. The 17-year-old daughter of Huffman and Shameless star William H. Macy updated her Instagram bio this week to let her fans know that she is part of Vassar College’s class of 2024.
According to Us Weekly, Georgia also posted the private liberal arts school’s logo on her Instagram Story but later deleted the image. Felicity Huffman's Youngest Daughter Reveals Her College Plans After Varsity Blues Scandal Landed Her Mom In Prison.
Getting into Vassar is not an easy task, according to the school’s website. Their stats from March 2019 show that less than 25 percent of applications are accepted, with 8,961 students applying to the school and only 2,098 were admitted. The number of California students is incredibly small, with only 277 coming from the Golden State.
Huffman ended up with a two-week prison sentence in October when she pleaded guilty to fraud charges after she paid $15,000 to a fake charity – via college admissions consultant William “Rick” Singer – to have her oldest daughter Sophia’s SAT scores altered so she could gain admission into an elite university.
Before Huffman received her sentence, she wrote a letter to the judge and asked for leniency. She explained that she almost did the same thing for Georgia, but she “finally came to her senses and told Mr. Singer to stop the process.”
Sophia Macy graduated from the Los Angeles High School of the Arts back in June, but she has not revealed her college plans in the wake of her mom’s scandal.
Before she served her prison sentence, Huffman told Us Weekly that she broke the law and admitted she was guilty of committing a crime. She said there were no excuses or justifications for her actions, and she apologized to her daughter, her husband, and the rest of her family.
“And I especially want to apologize to the students who work hard every day to get into college, and to their parents who make tremendous sacrifices supporting their children,” said Huffman.
One of Huffman’s co-defendants, Fuller House star Lori Loughlin, has continued to plead not guilty to fraud and bribery charges after she allegedly dropped $500,000 to get her two daughters into the University of Southern California as crew recruits, even though they didn’t play the sport.
Loughlin and her husband Mossimo Giannulli are facing decades in prison if they are found guilty.

Dungeon Hunter 5 Updates To Version 37 And Brings In Holiday Cheer To The Game

Dungeon Hunter 5 is a mobile and Steam game that plays very much like the Diablo series. And as of December 11, 2019, they’ve updated the game to Version 37. Dungeon Hunter 5 Updates To Version 37 And Brings In Holiday Cheer To The Game.
Players of Dungeon Hunter 5 take control of a bounty hunter who’s guild was betrayed and their Guild Master killed in the opening prologue. Taking on the role of Guild Master themselves, players control their character through 160 levels.
In addition to these 160 levels, there are several difficulty levels, so levels can be played multiple times at increasing difficulties for better rewards. Players can also rush previously completed levels if they did not use a health potion or die during the level. And running previous levels is important because the only way to get upgrades is to complete old levels multiple times.
Players can also modify existing gear by fusing other gear into it. So if a player has a flame sword they really like and want to make it stronger, they can take lower-level weapons and use them to upgrade their favored sword until it hits its max level. And once the weapon is at its max level, they can evolve the weapon ito its next form, so long as it has one.
This upgrade and evolve system also works for armors and trinkets too, making getting stronger a matter of finding the right gear and evolving it when necessary.
The game also has a shop where players can purchase chests that randomly drop weapons and armor based on the theme for that chest, allowing them to get higher level weapons and armor than they would normally get through missions. Most of these crates are “for real money”, but a good assortment only requires diamonds, a currency the players can get for free, to open.
And it is with this in mind that the updates with version 37 come into play. Version 37 raises the number of levels that can be run through to 160 levels, granting more single-player content for players to run through. There are also new achievements for players to complete, new weapons and armor to acquire coming from new item crates, and a number of bugs that, while not listed in the patch notes, have been fixed. They’ve also added new champion level minions into the player strongholds, which can be raided for experience and in-game currency.
However, it is the events that the dev team focused on in the patch notes. When booting up the game, there is a “Holiday” icon to click on, and from there, players can run through a dungeon to gather ornaments to be exchanged for crafting materials to be used to craft new trinkets to buff the power of the character.
Dungeon Hunter 5 is ready for the Holidays, and they’re prepared to give their players unique events for the season. Fans of the game won’t want to miss out on this event.

Horizon Zero Dawn Has Been Rumored To Be Coming To PC Surprisingly Soon, Likely False

There’s a new leak coming from a Russian games journalist, and it has everyone rather excited.  Unfortunately, it seems likely false, and it’s likely wise to nip this in the bud prior to a bunch of gamers lighting proverbial fires across social media.
Russian journalist Anton Logvinov has stated that Horizon Zero Dawn will be coming to PC in February 2020. Many sites on the internet are currently stating this as being a factual leak, crafting narratives to support their hopes through some gymnastics that even has Svetlana Khorkina licking her chops.
The mere mention of this coming to PC has many excited as the open-world game had an interesting vision for the future of humanity and wildlife.  Recreating the experience for PC would really stretch the capabilities of computers (and modding) as the game has a hefty number of idyllic scenery that stretches as far as the eye can see. 'Horizon Zero Dawn' Has Been Rumored To Be Coming To PC Surprisingly Soon, Likely False.
Beyond the raw power that computers bring to the fight, it’s simply far easier to aim with a keyboard and mouse than it is with a controller.  When most PC users see professional teams aiming a weapon with a controller, it simply defies reasoning that is readily available.  Personally, I’ve launched arrows in Horizon Zero Dawn well beyond what I was attempting to aim at, and it happened enough that the game ended up simply shelved for good.
So pardon everybody’s excitement that the game may be coming to PC.  That all being said, these rumors are likely false.  With Sony’s historical control over their first-party games, along with a complete lack of evidence, I’d keep the bow in the closet until we see something with more merit than a YouTube video.
If it’s real, he gets tons of clout for his next video.  If not, he’ll still gain a bit of popularity; at least among those that speak Russian.
Yet Horizon Zero Dawn is a first-party title for Sony, and they haven’t exactly set a precedent in allowing their titles that were supposed to encourage gamers to purchase the PlayStation 4 migrate wantonly to other platforms, even one as replete as PC.  Granted, we have seen games that are a wee bit long in the tooth coming to PC recently, and this may be a direct response to that.
Halo: The Master Chief Collection coming to Steam and captivating the audience yet again may merit a direct counter from Sony, and pushing their first-party games would be a brilliant counter.  Although Sony’s recent victories found through their console line doesn’t seem to have them jumping at any chance to compete with Microsoft.
Secondly, all we have to go on is a Russian YouTuber.  There are simply zero merits to this rumor as of yet, and YouTubers are notorious for crafting wild rumors in a desperate bid to attract more viewers on the ever-crowded platform.  It’s far more likely that they’re discussing the next Horizon Zero Dawn coming to the next generation of PlayStation, and our journalist friend got all of his wires crossed in the most popular way possible.
Everyone take a deep breath.  It’s OK.

Jay-Z restores albums to Spotify to celebrate his 50th birthday

Jay-Z is celebrating his 50th birthday by putting his full discography back on Spotify. Jay-Z Puts His Music On Spotify For His 50th Birthday.
The rapper, producer and record executive, who owns the rival streaming service Tidal, previously removed the majority of his studio albums, with just Reasonable Doubt, In My Lifetime, Vol 1 and Vol 2... Hard Knock Life left. Fans could also stream Collision Course, Hov’s 2004 album with Linkin Park.
However, to mark his 50th birthday, Jay-Z has now restored albums such as Watch the Throne, The Black Album and American Gangster to Spotify.
It is currently unclear as to whether he intends on keeping his music on the streaming service, or if it will be removed again at a later date.
Posting on Twitter, Spotify wrote: “Happy birthday, Hov. Welcome back to Spotify.”
It recently emerged that Stormzy turned down an offer to work with Jay-Z because he didn’t think the pair had a song that would fit as a collaboration.
The grime star was working with Ed Sheeran and Hov for “Take Me Back to London”, which was included on Sheeran’s No 6 Collaborations Project
Jay-Z reportedly wanted to feature on the track, but Stormzy felt that given the fellow rapper is American, it wouldn’t sound right.
“I was like, ‘I love this song but you being on [it] changes everything,” he said. “’ Take Me Back to London’ with me and Ed is one thing, but now that Jay-Z is on it... This is Jay-Z and Stormzy, what he means to culture, what I mean to culture... I didn’t think it was the [right] song.”

ESSAY ON FASHION

The meaning of fashion is the visible creativity of people, which can enhance the physical beauty or personality of someone. Though our country India has its own trend of fashion, which follows the tradition and culture of the country since ancient times, India is also a big supporter of new fashion technology and trend of the glamorous world.
Fashion and industry of fashion is a huge topic to consider for all, thus here we are providing you a brief and detailed description of fashion in the form of essays. Two types of essays are given here with different words count. One is Long Essay on Fashion and the other is Short Essay on Fashion.

Short Essay on Fashion

In this category, three essays are given with 100, 200 and 300 words count. All the essays are written in simple English language and are useful for students from 3rd to 8th class according to their need:

Fashion Essay 01

Fashion, the style of clothing, style of looking different, style of talking and style of living, etc is now the need of various people who want to be and behave according to the changed outside environment. Fashion has been always a center of attraction for most people for many years. Generally, the trend of fashion has been viewed in young generation people.
The trend of fashion depends on place to place, people to people or as per the interest according to need. Fashion always keeps changing and attracts mostly young age people. In India the world of glamour completely depends on fashion essay and also we can say that fashion is created by a glamorous world, where the everyday trends of fashion change.

Fashion Essay 02

Fashion is just a style of living with some changes in a person’s outlook according to the current trend. To be trendy and fashionable, people are changing their style of dressing, talking, living and behaving completely according to the current fashion trend.
Sometimes it is just people’s own wish to maintain themselves according to the trend but sometimes they are required to do it because of their professional working area where it is demanded to be fashionable and trendy like in glamorous industry or entertainment industry where models, actors, and actresses are required to do makeup on their face and dress up according to the current fashion. Even also we can say that they set the new trend of fashion for all.
The impact of fashion generally falls on teenagers to young age people. College going students are much influenced by western culture. Girls prefer to wear jeans and skirts with short tops along with different hairstyles, and boys like to wear T-shirts and jeans with different haircuts.
Coloured hair, shaky jeans, difficult to understand languages and unmatchable accessories are also part of trendy fashion nowadays. To be fashionable and maintaining the current trend of fashion is not bad until it does not cross the limits which our society has decided for all.

There are some Victims…

It is an important point that not everyone who has a large number of fake followers has paid for them. Ryan Tracey commented on a post I wrote last year called “Do you know the Twitter Limits” to say that he was the victim of 24,000 fake accounts following him. To read more on the subject you can read his blog post about him “being bot-bombed“. Unfortunately, there isn’t a huge amount you can do about this apart from blocking or reporting each account individually or using a 3rd party tool such as Buy Instagram Followers. TwitBlock analyses your account for spam, zombie or bot accounts and lets you block or report them. Unfortunately, it doesn’t let you do this in bulk, but this is rather unsurprising since I am pretty sure it goes against Twitter’s terms and conditions. There are tools that allow you to bulk unfollow, such as Manage Flitter*, but none that I know of that allow you to bulk block. If you know of any, please let me know in the comments.

How about Facebook?

Although I have mentioned Facebook, I have mainly been referring to Twitter throughout this post. The issue of fake followers is still an issue on Facebook, it is just a little more difficult to analyze. To be fair, Facebook came clean recently and claimed that over 83 million Facebook accounts are fake which confirmed what a lot of people were already thinking. At the end of August on the Facebook Security blog, Facebook announced they were going to remove fake likes from pages.

Measure Engagement Not Follower Count

So what is the moral of this story? Well apart from it not being moral to buy your followers and having the possibility of having your account suspended or deleted, the number of followers you have really isn’t that important. Let’s make an effort not to play the numbers game and be impressed with the number of followers or likes some business has. Work on building a community of people who are interested in you or your product/service. You will most certainly reap the benefits if you do. There are lots of ways to help you do this, including tools such as Commun.it*.

How to Grow your Followers the Right Way

I’ve explained why buying followers is bad (unless you are paying for Facebook or Twitter advertising to boost your followers), so how can you grow your followers the right way?
By providing value to people, that’s how! And… by finding relevant people to follow or are likely to follow you back and engage with you.
There are a number of tools that are going to help us in this quest.

ManageFlitter* (Free or from $12/mth)

ManageFlitter allows you to manage your Twitter followers and community in a very powerful way. They have a free version, but if you are going to get the most out of this tool, you’ll have to pay. It’s very reasonably priced (from $12 per month) and it’s going to help you grow your Twitter followers very effectively. I use their power mode to find relevant people to follow- ones that are likely to engage with me and hopefully follow me back. Remember, as well as growing your followers, wouldn’t it also be good to build strong relationships with relevant people, or get more leads?
With the power mode, I can follow the Twitter accounts that an influential and relevant person in my niche follows. I can then filter this list to only include accounts…
  • that I’m not following
  • who don’t currently follow me
  • who are active (i.e. they’ve Tweeted at least once in the past 30 days)
  • who have bothered to create a profile picture on their Twitter profile
  • who don’t have a protected (i.e. private) account
  • who are not in my “never unfollow” or “never follow” lists
  • who I’ve never followed before
  • who are unlikely to be spam accounts
  • who have over a certain number of followers themselves
  • and more!
You can then go through and quickly follow Twitter accounts that look promising. In many cases, they’ll follow you back.
Every so often, I’d advise doing another search using ManageFlitter to see who hasn’t followed you back in the past 30 days. Don’t just unfollow them all though! Go through and add accounts that really add value to your “never unfollow” account so you never unfollow them, but do unfollow accounts who have never bothered to engage with you or follow you back- if it makes sense to do so.
For more information, visit ManageFlitter.

Agora Pulse is kind of like a social inbox. You can quickly and easily go through all your Facebook, Twitter and Instagram mentions and comments and get down to inbox zero.
